I doubt that. Plagiarism is not a stumbling block for anyone as long as they are in line with the powers that be. An accusation of plagiarism is only raised and weaponized when the person deviates from the line set by the establishment (in Gay's case, lack of unconditional support for Israel). And since today it is not qualification but conformity that is decisive for advancing into the circles of power, most people who have risen to positions of power also have corresponding skeletons (plagiarism) in their closets. These hang over them like a sword of Damocles, to be released in the event of deviation from the line (and only then) and to impale the deviant. As long as you stay in line (and we agree on where that was in Covid times), all accusations of plagiarism will roll off your back.
