This is fantastic, thank you. I see the masks - beyond the gross physical harms - as a spiritual symbol of dehumanizing people and turning us into isolated automatons, who no longer exchange pleasant social connections & smiles at a grocery store. They are a small ever-present symbol of "danger" (a lie) to everyone to hold them in fear & control - like the over-reported MSM "case" numbers.
I think with some people we may have to cut our losses - some people are swayed only by the weight of other people's opinions, and will not be able to hold a belief contrary to what everyone else is telling them. Perhaps we should focus on dialogue within the resistant group, to deepen our own understandings of the multiple layers of complexity, and secondly focus on those people who are more open to reasoning from first principles.
This said we can always come back to those people who won't reason from first principles and think critically later.... but the danger is that by not engaging in dialogue with people who disagree with us, we ourselves violate the foundation of science, and trap ourselves in our own echo chamber.... but as you say if someone ignores evidence and logic we really can't proceed with a scientific dialogue... I wrestle with this most days

How do you debate with someone who insists that the earth is flat?
A person who willfully ignores the evidence before their eyes.
They have proven to you that facts, logic and science don't matter to them.
You can't use facts, logic and science against them.
Even some so called technical people seem to have limited their vision.
If it wasn't so tragic, I would invite them to keep going until they get to the end of the earth .
