This idea that humans will somehow evolve to the super hero like mutants or even super soldiers as portrayed in Hollywood is absurd. Let's say genetic engineering found a way to allow someone to have super strength. That doesn't mean they have super durability too and the additional energy needed for that super strength has to come from somewhere. Same thing with speed. Even if they could solve the issue of wear & tear on the human body from super powered abilities these super abilities have to be fueled and by more energy than the body can handle or consume so they'd have to solve for that. In the case of super strength if you had the muscle fiber to lift 10x the normal person you'd also need super reinforced bones and the like to handle the additional stress. Let's say you could move fast like Flash, you'd need to be able to equally think as quickly to control your actions and even then how are you going to deal with the fact that light isn't going to move any faster with you so you can still see normally?
It's not beyond reason to see some small levels of increased strength, speed & stamina but they all are going to still be limited by our physical World. The most realistic advancement will come from being better connected to and more easily interacting with our world thru technology. Being able to think to oneself "Close Garage Door" and the message is sent from your thoughts to your home to your garage door. If the past is any indication of how things will progress and when has it not, the first advancements will come in the form of sex, pornography. While it's more altruistic to use advancements for things like curing disease (ie Alzheimer’s) and replacing damaged body parts with prosthetics the fact is these are expensive at first and you need the first wave of investors in the tech to be drawn in and that will come from the adult industry. Most advancements that will eventually benefit us all will have first been embraced by and made cheaper from the tech used in the adult entertainment industry. The first truly realistic humanoid like robots who will be the maids & butlers of every household will have found their roots from sex bots. Sex, a primal human desire will drive technological advancements.

Wonderful article; it gives me hope. I think the resonances with nature also have a spiritual component - music being my personal proof of this. Yes; moving ahead in this manner would be so much better than the transhumanism envisaged by some.
