Thank you Mark! Gf and I got thrown off a local train in Oberstdorf, Germany last summer for not complying with the mask mandate on publicity transport. All the sheep had masks on but our feeling was that only a couple were enraged with our non compliance. Funny thing was that on the crowded town fest in the evening, NO ONE was wearing a mask. They did it because they had to in order to get on public transport, but clearly they didn't believe in doing it. It felt soooo good to resist that little fascist train guy and say NO to his face. The taxi home to our friends there was totally worth it! Greetings from Norway 😄

Yes, this is important. We must not make it easy for them. Do not comply willingly.

So if a populace is primed with a story in which acts are described convincingly as taboo (not wearing masks, not using a product, leaving your home), authoritarian actions subsequently taken to enforce/prohibit the acts are not perceived as authoritarian. Excellent insight. BTW, I tried to tag you on Twitter while sharing this Substack post, and while I could get your name to come up in the search bar, Twitter would NOT allow me to tag you.
