"How DARE you compare masks to yellow stars on Jews?!?!?! That's anti-Semetic and an insult to Jews who survived the Holocaust!!!!!!"

Well....the following from an NPR article on the mask flip-flop in March-April of 2020. Under "what other benefits do masks confer" you'll find this:

"It should be seen as a badge of honor. If I'm wearing a mask out in public, it means I'm concerned about you, I'm concerned about my neighbors, I'm concerned about strangers on the chance that I'm infectious. I want to do my part in limiting how I might impact you."

As a Jew, who was sternly admonished as a child by a Holocaust survivor at synagogue, to "Never forget what they did to us," I learned the history I wasn't supposed to forget. History that informed me about yellow Stars of David that Jews were forced to wear in Nazi Europe. This history:

"A powerful symbol is to be found in the fact that the boycott leadership gave orders that a sign with a yellow badge on a black background was to be pasted on the boycotted shops. This regulation is intended as a brand, a sign of contempt. We will take it up and make of it a badge of honor."

"It was intended as dishonor. Jews, take it up, the Shield of David, and wear it with pride!..."

The Jews began owning the symbol forced on them as a "badge of honor." Tried to make an indignity into a virtuous thing. Like masks. That's how I DARE to compare masks to yellow Stars of David forced on Jews by Nazi's. Unapologetically. To deny it is an insult to Jews who survived the Holocaust. It's an insult to ALL humanity. The forced masking IS the forced wearing of a Star of David. Calling it an "honor badge" doesn't change that fact - it confirms it!
