I feel politically homeless given the utter failure of conservatives to stand up for freedom. And yes, rethinking the whole “pro-death penalty” stance given the fact I’m now literally terrified to be admitted to a hospital as a dirty unvaxxed person who miraculously hasn’t died. There are health professionals who would like me to die rather than be forced to take care of me. And I could see one of them trying to to inject me against my will or hold me hostage otherwise. Maybe my imagination has gone wild - but I don’t think so. Not anymore.

I was already libertarian in that civil liberties were my primary value. That can be true whether you are on the left or right.

I've long been a libertarian. I agree that the covid nonsense put government incompetence and malevolence on full display, and should win a few converts.

But I don't think your examples will convince anyone. Leftists think persecution of the out group is beneficial, and rightists will (quite properly) point out that that governments are no more to be trusted with the imprisonment penalty than they are with the death penalty.
