I am all over the place on those questions. On average in between. Some veering right, some left.

Your debates are all gibberish. The opposite extreme from the "open borders" position is obviously "closed borders", not "illegals rape". Nobody is debating the percentage of illegal aliens who have committed rape, but it's clearly neither zero nor one hundred percent. That is a question of fact, not opinion, so no debate is needed - research would suffice to answer the question with high accuracy.

In reality, it is almost always an extremist who advocates the best position on a serious issue of public policy. The centrists are generally either mealy-mouthed or ignorant.

Not at all. The extreme is almost always stupid. In every case. And, yes, nearly every position in between — and it is often multidimensional — is mealy-mouthed, but that doesn’t mean the principled position is not somewhere in there.

As for the opposing polls in the examples I gave, they are correct. The communities at either end HAVE those views.

Thank heaven for the principled statesmen who gave us the Three-Fifths Compromise. Can you believe there were extremists stupid enough to believe that slaves were full human beings? Crazy!

You think every position in between extremes is the justified principled one. Got it.

No. That would be dumb. Most in between positions are.

But the extreme opposing viewpoint from the opposing community was armed uprising and even dissolution of the union.
