As a nurse that was so hard to watch. The patient is short of breath, wheezing, and obviously in distress. The security guard is agitating the patient which makes his asthma symptoms worse. Rule 101 you don’t put something over someone’s face when they can’t breathe! I’m just so disheartened with the whole healthcare system. Where was his nurse to advocate for him? Outrageous and disgusting!

He didn’t have a nurse yet bcz they refused to treat him for not wearing the mask. And believe me, my partner just spent 10 weeks in the hospital. Very few nurses advocate anymore. I am not formally medically trained and yet I was giving orders on how to handle many things that got most of them in a dither.

Someone put that O2 sat monitor on his finger. The person standing there next to him in scrubs is either a tech or a nurse triaging him. If a tech, they should have escalated this to the triage nurse. If it’s the nurse, it’s dereliction of duty in advocating for their patient. I too have been a victim of the system this past spring and believe me, I advocated for myself…

I’m sorry to hear about your partner and glad you were able to defend them. I hope all is well!
