Since 2020, we’ve lived through some seriously unambiguous, world-level mass hysterias. First Covid. Then the Jew-hating mania that 10/7 unleashed.
And we are still in the middle of that second one — where much of the world has sided, emotionally and politically, with the Islamists who brutally crush Gazans, Lebanese, Yemenis, and Iranians. Apparently that’s all forgivable, so long as those same Islamists also kill Israelis.
If you experienced these social manias, you experienced true societal-level evil.
Not the ordinary, small-life variety of evil motivated by money, power, sex, or revenge. This is the larger, more terrifying variety: the kind where people commit evil while believing, with absolute confidence, that they are doing good.
That is the kind of evil we invented the Devil to explain.
