Trying to engineer mass hysteria or virality is like standing on a 100-yard green, aiming to sink a putt.
It’s not that it can’t happen—it’s that you can’t make it happen on purpose.
Why?
Because to do so, you’d have to control every one of the millions of blades of grass the ball might touch.
And in the case of human behavior?
Each “blade of grass” is a person—with a mind, desires, biases, agency, and free will.
You don’t control the terrain.
You are the terrain.
And so is everyone else.
Top-down control is a fantasy. The world moves by swarm logic—emergent, unstable, and wild.
