What I find interesting, and informative, is the number of people with whom I am acquainted who seem to approve of the "genocide" designation, who seem to believe that Isreal is some type of evil empire and express such opinions openly on Twitter. In fairness and full disclosure, except for this piece (https://thewiltster.substack.com/p/have-we-heard-this-song-before) I have almost no opinion about the issues. This is because I have NOT dug into the history or even the current events deeply enough to have an informed opinion. As such, I trust opinions such as yours, Doc. Hopefully, that's enough.

Every nation should try to be seen as an evil empire by any other nations that are not allies to some extent. Agreements with allies aside, each nation should focus first on it's own best interest and it's own people. For Israel to do that, it looks to the Palestinians ( along with millions of idiot woke youths in the west) like as if Israel is an evil empire. Trump and America are now being called nasty things by some foreign groups now that the $$ flow to them has been cut off.

No nation or group of people should feel obligated to or indebt to another. Unfortunately for some groups this will look like as if that nation is being evil because the group is so accustom to being given something by the other group.

I myself neither like or hate Israel or Jews and believe they like all nations have the right to do what's best for their own people. That doesn't mean there aren't any questionable actions to be discussed by Israel but that what's going on now is justified as they were attacked. If you are a woman and your dumb enough to go into the woods alone and start smacking a bear like they do men, I have zero empathy for you b/c you went and did something dumb and it cost you. I do have empathy for the non-combatant Palestinians caught in the middle but they are very much like the non-liberals in California. If you keep choosing to live there no matter what idiocy your government does then I don't really have empathy for you.

You are correct in that the use of "genocide'" in this context is shaming language; very much like how women use shaming language on men to manipulate the men b/c the woman can not physically impose her will on the man. Here we see Hamas using it to try and shame Israel.

Since you brought up the use of shaming language tactics how about we explore other uses of this like with "antisemitism"? There over 1,000 different ethnicities on the planet and of them the term "racism", when speaking English, is sufficient; except for 1 group. One group needs their own special term to set them apart from the rest. That or it's being used as a shamming language like tactic to shut down criticism and questions regarding the group.

What do you think Mark? Do they use antisemitism because they see themselves as needing to be apart form all other groups or do they use it for shamming language, to shut down criticism and questions about the group?

They need to stop. Plus, USA has been paying these people to be antisemitic.

Apparently the USA has been paying a lot of people to do a lot more things. If DOGE can keep the cuts in place it will be very interesting to see how 2025 ends economically. There will be 10's of thousands of unemployed ex-federal employees, most of whom won't be able to find another Job b/c the private sector is not like the public sector; you have to perform or else. These life long Fed employees being let go will have no idea how to work properly in the private sector and many will wind up on Federal assistance. That said their being on Federal assistance still costs us less then their inflated government salaries.
