There are three pillars for freedom of speech.
FREE: It’s not simply the absence of government censorship. It’s about tolerance from the populace and private sector.
EXPRESSION: It’s less about the propositions we utter, and more about our emotional expressions, which connotes our confidence. The online public square is largely missing this, which is why it’s so broken.
GROUP: It works by virtue of the unfettered messy processes of the group which, via emotionally expressive speech en masse, builds a dynamic reputation network that selects in the long run for the truth.
