The Feds censored our faces and speech, and censored our book arguing why that’s disastrous
Meta-censorship
Imagine researching why we and all social animals have emotional expressions, and over a decade building a first principles theory for why and how emotional expressions work as a “language” of sorts, the language that really, to this day, undergirds our communication.
Imagine also that that theory serves as the foundation for how free expression itself functions in a community.
Groundbreaking stuff my co-author @DrTimBarber and I are deeply proud of, and we wrote up into a book, EXPRESSLY HUMAN.
Now imagine that, just as the book is being finished up, the world goes crazy and decides faces just don’t matter, and if you think they matter you’re unclean and evil.
How timely! Our book was just in time to explain to the world the depth and importance of the human face.
Except…
Now imagine that the righteous forces of #ZeroCovid also began censoring, even using the arm of the State, to ensure that the voices of anyone skeptical of masks, anyone skeptical of covering over the true “first language” God gave us, was muted.
Our book — and our grand unifying theory of emotional expressions — launched at the height of my (and your!) censorship, which lasted around two years.
Imagine the irony: A seminal discovery on the foundations of free expression has its wings clipped by censorship.
And that book was, in a sense, the ultimate defense of the human face, and thus a powerful tool against the irrational pressures to “simply wear a mask.
