MegaLag has done an expose on Enchroma, the dominant colorblindness glasses company
It's not pretty. But, after all, if you don't know what red-green vision is for, you're not going to be able to correct it.
EnChroma has for a decade hocked “Colorblindness Glasses” that don’t even augment the signal our red-green vision is for (and don’t even help in color vision tests).
My VINO OPTICS tech is the only that augments visibility of oxygenation modulations of blood under the skin — and therefore amplifies blushes, blanches, flushes and spectral emotional states — which is WHY we have red-green vision, a 2006 discovery of mine.
Here’s my 2006 paper showing that primate red-green vision evolved for sensing emotions, state and health on bare skin.
Color deficients are deficient at seeing those signals, which are due to O2 variations in blood. Also see my second book, Vision Revolution.
Now, @MegaLagOfficial has done an expose on Enchroma, showing — as I have been saying for nearly a decade — that their tech (and the others) does not work.
A simple litmus test for colorblind lenses is: Do they augment visibility of veins?
If they don’t, then they’re not augmenting the very O2 blood signal our red-green vision evolved to detect.
No other technology augments veins.
But our VINO OPTICS technology does augment veins.
In fact, vein augmentation was our main motivation for our patent and business, and paramedics and nurses have been our primary customers.
Our technology also aids color deficients because it augments the very O2 blood signal they’re deficient at.
It’s not about seeing everything as color normals see things.
It’s about seeing the key DISTINCTIONS that red-green vision evolved to let us distinguish: oxygenation variations of blood, and the emotion and health states it informs us about.
Unlike Enchroma and the other color enhancement companies that don’t augment the red-green signal, our tech is in active use by thousands of medical personnel.
Here is a 2023 publication in the most prominent journal in Dermatology reporting on the efficacy of our Oxy-Iso:
“For simple visualization of the subcutaneous veins, in particular for reticular and feeder leg veins (blue/green hue), we have found that protective eyewear specific for neodymium doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser (gray, semitransparent, with high visible light transmission) under the magenta Oxy-Iso Vein Finder glasses (Vino Optics) to be helpful in better identifying difficult-to-visualize vasculature to provide a more complete treatment session.”

There have been clinical studies showing that VINO OPTICS technology augments red-green vision. (And many studies showing that the main competitor in that market, Enchroma, does not.)

There have been a variety of professional magazine reviews, such as these two…
“Seasoned paramedics excel at gaining IV access on the sickest patients, in the worst conditions and often in a moving ambulance. Attaining that expertise takes practice and persistence--with a bit of patient discomfort along the way. The new Vein Finder Glasses from VINO OPTICS are an ingenious way to improve your IV access skills. They're designed by Caltech and Princeton scientists to enhance visibility of veins even under adipose tissue--and they really do work! The Vein Glasses are best used in bright sunlight at first so you can notice the difference with the glasses and without. Once you see the difference you can then use them with a bright flashlight and have nearly the same visibility. They won't work if you're color blind. In that instance you'll want to try the Oxy-Iso glasses.”

“Veins become very apparent. Looking almost like they’re glowing. He described it as “fluorescing,” though the glasses don’t actively excite blood in any way, instead relying on filtering light in a precise way.”
--Cardiologist, Sept 2016, Medgadget review.
Our tech has been used by doctors in sclerotherapy for almost a decade:
“I use these glasses and sometimes a vein light from Veinlite to do Sclerotherapy for varicose veins and telangectasias. Since I got the glasses, I find that I can do more treatment of more vessels without the light.”
--Seth McLaughlin
“I wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed using your eyewear, especially the Oxy-Iso glasses. I now use them in all of my leg vein procedures.… We actually have the Christie Vein Viewer (one of the IR devices) in our office… Although it is a very cool product, it does markedly alter the appearance of veins and the treatment process itself. While I haven’t used the IR device much for sclerotherapy, I use my Oxy-Iso’s every single time. … I can't live without my VINO Optic Glasses!”
--Daniel Friedmann, MD, Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery
I recommend watching the YouTube expose above: Enchroma has dominated the market for a decade through massive PR campaign spends and questionable claims, and managed to get lucky with sequences of “OMG THE COLORS!!” videos which were either faked or due to human bias and suggestibility.
My VINO OPTICS tech, on the other hand, actually augments the very signal red-green color vision evolved to detect, and emanates from the scientist — me — that made that discovery.
Just as politics is filled with mad rushes to the “next thing,” so is science.
And so it is for technology.
