Gad Saad just blocked me for a respectful comment about Islam, so I thought I’d remind you about Saad’s own susceptibility to tyranny

I commented maybe twice on posts by @gadsaad, and he just now crapped out and blocked me. 🤦‍♂️ No argument. Just a block. Never mind that I’m also a cognitive scientist, engaging respectfully in discussion.

It’s a useful opportunity to point out a glaring contradiction in Gad:

All day he blames Islam (the culture/religion) for the evils of Islamism (the fascist political ideology).

But he ignores the fact that humankind is *generally* prone to collectivism — the fascisms, socialisms and so on.

The Christian world was teeming with these just fifty years ago, often dressed explicitly in the language of Christianity. Christians, whether rationalizing their collectivism by Christian or other narratives, were responsible for hundreds of millions of deaths — Christian peoples cannot claim any moral high ground on oppression and democide. Christians are, however, ahead on what we hope might be a timeline of progress.

In fact, we don’t have to look that far back to find that those in the West agitated in a cult-like way for draconian civil liberties violations, all for the greater single-dimensional good:

Gad himself provides a perfect example.

Below are screenshots of some of Gad’s tweets at the start of Covid, which — as you surely recall — became a worldwide mass hysteria and totalitarianism, one “justifying” unprecedented civil liberties violations all so as to reduce the spread of one astronomically exaggerated virus.

There were in those months no calls by Gad for observing civil liberties — which are especially FOR the emergencies.

There was no peep by Gad that something might be… off … about the societal mind.

There was no scientific insight whatsoever from a scientist who actually studies social mania.

No. Gad fell into the social mania fully. Apparently Gad is not immune to mind viruses. Like, at all.

And don’t reply to me, “Well, we didn’t know much back then…”

First, we did. The CEBM at Oxford provided data by mid-March that the IFR was unremarkable.

Second, your being worried does NOT in any way justify violating civil liberties en mass FFS! “I’m confused and so therefore TYRANNY IS ON!” That’s not how civil liberties work.

So, before we point to two billion Muslims and blame their hundreds of diverse cultures for the evils of Islamism, let’s ask why most Muslims hate Islamists, let’s ask why most Muslim governments have zero tolerance for them, let’s ask why Western Leftists romanticize and justify Islamists more than most Muslims do, let’s ask why huge percentages of Western nations are keen on socialism and censorship and hang Che Guevara posters on their walls, and let’s ask why every Western nation and practically every Westerner — including Gad Saad — hopped on the Covid totalitarianism wagon once they got just a wee bit frightened.
