From Voltaire’s Free Speech Doctrine to Changizi’s Free Speech Doctrine

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
This quote, often attributed to Voltaire (but is actually a quote from Evelyn Beatrice Hall summarizing his attitude), is at first glance great.
But very often folks preface their defense of an opponent’s freedom of speech by emphasizing how they disagree with the person.
That’s a grave mistake, as it plays into the hands of the very cancellers trying to censor the speech, as I explain in this video from June of 2021.
