Censoring “misinformation” is like requiring that ladders only have the top rung
A satirical Science Moment on what science would be like if “misinformation” were censored.
It occurred to me the other day that censoring “misinformation” is like requiring that ladders only have the top rung. It nicely and obviously captures that, without all the lower rungs you can’t get to the top, and thus can’t get to your destination.
But — even better — a ladder without its lower rungs loses its very integrity, and is nearly guaranteed to scissor open and crash to the ground.
Society and science depend on misinformation, something that I would have hoped the West knew. But then again I thought they also understood civil rights and informed consent.
Here’s that satirical Moment on what science would look like without misinformation.
