Many of the people who understand that socialism / communism doesn’t work because centralized governments are invariably stupid…
…also believe that the Chinese Communist government is so brilliantly competent that all the information we see from China was fed to us as part of ingenious propaganda.

China's system works only because the CCP controls and has enough support among the Chinese military to impose it's will. The CCP certainly isn't in charge because a majority of its citizens prefer the CCP, they simply have no choice. Where the CCP has been smart is with its dictatorships it's not left its citizens to starve and fend for themselves but tried to impose a system of productivity and even provide routes for those willing (to sell their soul to the CCP) to move up the social ladder and acquire wealth. It's like organized crime except that there are no citizens just employees of the crime family and its servants.
