The real danger throughout the Covid debacle was that the population overwhelmingly has no appreciation or respect for civil liberties, including free expression and informed consent.
I haven't gotten around to writing about it, but it seems to me that many, many people, cannot see anything except what happens to be in front of their face right now. Civil liberties are largely a protection against FUTURE evils. You must apprehend the danger of POTENTIAL, FUTURE evils to appreciate the protection liberty provides. Got a bunch of people out there thinking no more seriously than "well this particular mandate right here right now doesn't bother me so what's your problem?".
